Preparing For Your Boudoir Session

Once you get past the rush of booking your boudoir session, your mind might race with what now? How do I get ready?

We have some suggestions to help make your day and images spectacular!

For the days leading up to your photo session:

Hydrate drinks lots of water. It gives your skin a lustre

Moisturize a lot! Your session will have a lot of skin showing.

A little self-care, scrub your feet, shave where you usually do, very carefully. Do your nails.

Don’t go diet crazy but don’t go on a cupcake-eating binge either.

If your hair needs a trim, do it a week or two before your session. Don’t experiment with a new cut or colour.

Speaking of colour, it would be a good time to touch it up if you dye or tint your hair normally.

Start searching for Ideas, poses, moods, and lighting that appeals to you. Haunt Pinterest, Instagram and magazines. I have lots of ideas, so don’t stress if you can’t find the time.

A boudoir session is a fun excuse to go shopping for new outfits. Again don’t worry if you can’t. The camera can’t tell the difference between expensive and regular. We can work with what you have.

Think about your hobbies, your comfort places, your lovers’ hobbies or joys. Bring things that represent them along. They make it very personal.

To really pamper, here are some great indulgences.

Go out to get your nails done; you will feel fantastic with the look. Don’t go crazy, though; keep to your style.

Have a pedicureHave a massage or a spa day with some girlfriends

Now the day before your session, try these.

Double check all your clothes, props and shoes are ready to go.

Iron clothes, even lingerie, will look a lot better.

Relax the night before, and go to bed early; so you can be well-rested.

Remove tags from lingerie.

Don’t drink any alcohol.

Here is what to do on the day of your session

Wear loose comfy clothes, so there are no lines from socks, bras, underwear or tight pants.

Have a light-energy meal

Wash your face but no makeup

Roughly style your hair as you like it.

Arrive ready to have fun; know your nerves will vanish as we start.

I hope this helps. Nothing creates confidence like having a plan. These preparations will make your session a richly enjoyable experience that you will treasure.
